Weigh in Motion
Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) is a traffic measurement technology that records the weight of vehicles while they are moving, without requiring them to stop or slow down.
Instead of directing trucks onto a static weighing scale, WIM systems estimate axle loads and total vehicle weight as vehicles pass over sensors embedded in or placed under the road.

A typical WIM system uses a combination of sensors such as:
Strain gauges / load sensors in the pavement
Piezoelectric sensors that generate signals when pressure is applied
Inductive loops to detect vehicle presence and speed
